Making Histograms on your TI-83/84.
Using your handheld calculator, let's produce a histogram of the AAA ratings for the Volvo V40 Wagon.

Turn your TI-83 or TI-84 series calculator on and follow these steps:

Press STAT |

Step 2 Input your data |
Select EDIT by pressing ENTER or 1. Then enter our 20 data values into L1. (If you don't have "L1" as a title, then highlight "SetUpEditor" from the STAT menu and press enter twice.) |

Step 3 Select a viewing window |
Press WINDOW Input the values shown to the right. |

Step 4 Choose the type of graph |
Press 2ND then STAT PLOT. Select "On". Choose the histogram option under "Type:". |

Step 5 Graph it! |
Press GRAPH Press TRACE and use the arrows to see what's there. |

To change the bin width, vary the Xscl under in your WINDOW settings. |
